Report on the exhibition of the 57th ENC

2016/04/22

The 57th Experimental Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Conference(ENC) was held from April 10 to 15, 2016 at the Wyndham-Grand Hotel, Pittsburgh City, Pennsylvania.

The number of participants who registered in advance was about 750, smaller than last year. It covered various fields, such as biological molecules, medicines, inorganic materials, DNP・hyperpolarized, matabolomics, MRI/MRS, and hardware, with 5 special lectures, 78 oral presentations, and 401 poster presentations. The first day was cold day, below zero with some snow, but the final day turned out to be a warm day reaching higher than 20 ℃, maybe because of the participants’ excitement in the air.

JEOL Ltd. and JEOL Resonance presented wide band solid HXMAS probe that can cover -100 ℃ to +200 ℃ with a narrow bore magnet, solution HFX probe technology, and a variety of the latest applications using our products at the Hospitality suite.

Our probes presented in the booth, were a solution 5 mm ROYAL probe, and a solid 3.2 mm HXMAS probe, which drew the attention of a lot of participants, and inquiries kept coming during the exhibition period.

On the first day, April 10, we held a “JEOL NMR Technology Seminar”. Here, Mr. Toby Zens, current JEOL NMR consultant, former legendary probe builder of Nalorac, Varian/Agilent, presented an HFX probe technology under development. Likewise, Ron Crouch, current JEOL NMR consultant, former Varian/Agilent researcher presented the transplanting of Agilent’s VnmrJ software pulse series into Delta, Yusuke Nishiyama of JEOL RESONANCE presented various applications for non-labeled samples at >100 kHz high speed spinning with solid NMR.

The next, 58th ENC will be held from March 26 to 31, 2017, at Pacific Group, California.
